Trinity knew better than anyone what straight scars lined up next to each other meant.
She’d seen her best friend have them on her stomach. She had them on her left thigh. She knew what it felt like to have your entire world be out of your control. Having everyone turn against you in the blink of an eye. Making herself bleed helped. Because in that moment, when she had a stolen razor pressed against her skin, everything was silent. The feeling of utter relief after regaining control made the permanent scars worth it. It made the judgment and the stares worth it.
Even though Trinity knew why people have them, she couldn’t understand why Dennis had the familiar straight thin scars in rows across his left and right arm.
