“What’s a guy like you doing in a place like this?” Clint says, instead.
Barnes snorts. “Having a drink,” he says, then gives Clint another one of those appraising looks. “You a professional?” he says, after a second, and Clint is momentarily confused.
A professional what?
And then he realizes Barnes must be talking about pool, and Clint huffs a laugh. “Only when there’s money involved,” he says, smirking, and Barnes kind of nods, like that makes any sort of sense.
Then Barnes nods again, a little more firmly, and says “You got a place?”
Which is about the point that Clint realizes that he’s not meeting the Winter Soldier in a bar, he’s being picked up by the Winter Soldier in a bar and-
“Yeah,” he croaks, clears his throat, thinks wildly that he’s really fucking glad Kate has Lucky for a few days, and says “Yeah, I got a place.”
Or, how Bucky got his groove back.

After the deaths of Toshiko Sato and Owen Harper, Torchwood must start again. Along with Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones, Torchwood stands in the face of a swiftly changing universe, facing off against adversaries both terrestrial and alien, while struggling with their own very human hopes and fears.
The universe has little mercy for the last members of Torchwood as they're thrown headlong into the chaos of a changing world while the inhabitants of Earth begin to realize that they're not alone… and the neighbors aren't always friendly. This is a totally fan-created-and-developed project, for fans and by fans -- an alternative path Torchwood might have taken, in a different world. Purely a labor of love, months of work have gone into this project. Nearly twenty individuals have put blood, sweat, tears, and lamb guts into this project, creating 13 brand new episodes with ephemera, including dozens of images and photo manipulations, blogs, news articles and more.
Our goal was to create a full series of Torchwood, grounded in the themes, concepts, and characters of the first two series, but with all new stories. We've created a series of free-standing episodes that also build to a rousing series finale, intentionally keeping to the general feel and 'rating' of the existing Torchwood episodes and the Whoniverse at large. For the purposes of this series, we've accepted the radio plays and the crossover episodes such as Journey's End as canon, but not the books, comics or most other apocrypha. We have accepted some background information revealed in Children of Earth, but otherwise that series is not part of this one.
We'll be going live on Friday, February 12th and publishing episodes weekly, starting on February 19th. Don't forget to check back periodically for series extras like the Captain's Blog or a page or two from Ianto's diary!
Multiple authors have worked on the episodes so you're likely to run into familiar names as the series progresses. Behind the scenes, others took on the exhausting duties of compiling background information on the series, doing research, verifying data and helping to keep everyone moving in the same general direction. This was truly a labor of love, from a great number of people, and they deserve every kudo and gold star this project earns.
I hope you love this, and the people who put in so much work to make it come true, as much as I do.
