    Soviet Russia in the 1970s was a place of paradoxes, political repression and propaganda coexisted with a sense of hope for some, and despair for others.It was an era dominated by the leadership of Leonid Brezhnev, who had taken power in 1964.  It was also a time of heightened tensions with the West. The KGB kept a tight grip on the population, ensuring conformity with the Communist Party’s Ideology. Much of the debrief section of the file was crap Alfred already knew, and luckily Carter was quick to keep things memorized. They had one job really, to detain a man named Petrov, someone who turned out to be a double agent in possession of highly sensitive material before he could defect to the Soviet Union. Some people really had no pride in their nation huh?
