Summary
One year has pasted since the grueling events of Mikael's temporary custody of Niklaus.
Mikael has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibly of parole. Freya and Niklaus both testifying to what they both lived through. Ultimately leading to what put him away for good.
Niklaus had spent the year away healing. From months of being in the care of his hospital team. To a few months of rehab to get back the mobility of his body. To the half of the summer spent at a camp for survivors of childhood abuse that his elder siblings thought would be good for him, and would have been good for Freya if she had been able to get help when she was his age.
Now he returns home in hopes of reuniting with the family he missed each and every day. Living his life to the fullest now that he is forever free from his father's torturous wrath.
Instead of the hopeful ending he wished for, he finds that the year he spent away was the worst one his family has ever lived through.
All of it a secret, keeping him fully in the dark.

Living In New Orleans was not always easy, especially for the Michaelsons.
But they always found a way to manage for they were a family after all. Though, due to the unexpected death of their mother Esther and an accident that took the life of their stepfather only several months later the oldest three are left to raise the youngest three children.
Even though money was always tight and food wasn't always there, they were happy.
Well, they were.
But what happens when a new sibling comes out of nowhere and disrupts the life they barely were able to make for themselves.
