Cas’ face softens and one of Dean’s hands goes under Cas’ arm, against the door, and the other wraps around the back of Cas’ head and, oh God, he’s going to kiss him.
Sam drops the blind. The motel room is plunged into darkness.

The kid merely fixes the Yankees cap on his head, shrugging before he pulls a sign out of his inventory. ‘shouldn’t you know?’ He scribbles out. His tiny finger taps the wood impatiently when all Schlatt can do is stare blankly at the sign.
He sighs. Okay, so there’s a smartass kid in his kitchen, and he still didn’t know what to do with him.

Jensen Ackles woke up in a cheap motel in Dean Winchester's place. When Sam Winchester realized who he was, it dawned on Jensen that he was a case. Sam wanted to figure out what happened and get Dean back. Sam wanted to get Dean back and he, Jensen Ackles, was an obstacle and so was his whole reality and Sam would not really care. Sam Winchester would raise the Darkness and burn the universe down to get Dean back.
The Winchesters were real. And by any normal standards they were bugf**k crazy.

Summary
The Lawrence villagers say that there's something in the woods somewhere. Something big. Something scary. Something that will swallow your children whole if they venture inside. No one who goes in comes back out.
Mary Winchester builds her farm at the edge of the woods to raise her two sons. Her youngest, Sam Winchester, born with weak lungs, always stares into the trees. It's as if it's calling him. Not long after Mary succumbs to the fever ravaging through the village, Sam walks into the woods and disappears.
Dean grieves the loss of his family. Suffering the same illness that took his mother, Dean hears a scream on a dark winter's night. It's a scream he cannot ignore. He runs into the trees to investigate.
Something is watching Dean. He can feel it. The creature is coming for him. Dean expects to die, expects to be eaten, expects to become one of the cautionary tales exchanged by the villagers.
But Castiel, the creature of the woods, is nothing like Dean's expectations.

When a hunt goes wrong Dean is forced to choose between getting killed by hellhounds or seeking shelter in the Forest of Souls, a forest full of the worst things Purgatory could spit out into the world of humans. Dean’s chances of survival are basically zero but still better than getting torn apart by a hellhound.
He expects the werewolves and the vampire, but nothing could have prepared him for Castiel. He wasn’t like any creature Dean has ever seen before; powerful enough to keep every other monster away from Dean, impervious to monster warding and constantly evolving. Towards what, Dean doesn’t know. But for all his grumpiness, Castiel doesn’t seem to mean Dean any harm.
But what is he? And might Dean make it out alive after all?

"Your character encounter's a genie, who is rather incompetent.""So, get this," Sam said walking in the room. He had a big, leather bound book in his hands and was scanning the page while he talked.
"Other than phoenix's and angels', the only other feathers with magic properties are those of a certain type of wassergeist. It's German for water spirit or water genie," Sam read out loud.
"Exactly!" A low, rumbling voice interjected.
Sam's eyes flew up from the book. Dean wished he had a camera by hand, because the face he made when he spotted Castiel was somewhat comical. Then Sam started yelling, spoilsport, and all the fun went down the drain.
