Harry gaped at Hermione. “You did this?”
“Might’ve,” she replied with a shrug.
Severus’s brain tried for: I already have a dreadful migraine, Potter, so kindly piss off before you make it worse.
What emerged instead: “Harry, you beacon of plucky perseverance, what happy twist of fate brings us your heart-warming sincerity and scruffily heroic energy today?”
A short, terrible silence followed.
“I think,” said Harry, very slowly, “I’d much rather be shouted at.”
“I would also much rather you be shouted at,” Minerva agreed.
“Right,” Harry said faintly. “Clearly I’ve walked into something much stranger than I thought.”
Severus’s brain tried for: Then kindly fuck off, you Potter-haired fuck-face.
But instead, Severus’s mouth chirped: “Keep believing in yourself, Harry! Gold stars, all around! And your hair is such a wonderfully spirited celebration of your individuality!”
Harry backed towards the door. “And I think I’m going to leave and let all of you sort out whatever—” he made a vague gesture, “—this is.”

“Marianne, are you sure you feel well? Have I done something to offend?” She made her way to the four-poster bed leaning heavily on a pole. “Marianne?” She felt him walking behind her and to make him stop his movement she said what she knew would scare him.
“I desire my husband.” It was quick and in one breath. He stopped where he was walking toward her, roughly an arm's length away. “I have woken up this morning and I have not been able to think of anything but you. I am craven to your touch in a most improper way.”

“Christ, Severus!” Minerva inhaled sharply through her nose. “There should be no talk of disrobing at this point! Stick to the sanitised version, please.”
Severus nodded obediently at her, but continued: “Likewise, I resisted telling you how your swottiness and insistence on being correct have—curiously enough, in adulthood—actually become rather significant turn-ons for me.”
“Severus!” Minerva snapped in warning.
“And, relatedly, she suggested that I should not yet share my fantasy about you lecturing me—”
Minerva made a strangled feline noise and started waving both hands back and forth.
“—while I took you against—” he continued, pointing to some alcove wall behind Hermione.
“Hex!” Minerva yelped out. “HEX, HEX, HEX!” Minerva all but shrieked.

She couldn’t articulate what she needed, exactly, but then a cool door knob materialized underneath her searching palms, so inconsistent with the all encompassing heat surrounding her.
Hermione turned the knob on instinct, and fell back hard against a grassy ground.
Only three living people came to mind when she considered who might be skilled enough to fend off Fiendfyre: McGonnigal, Flitwick, and Snape.
But, no, not Snape. She had stood up for him long enough. Never again.
