Nyx is great at exploring creepy basements. It's basically their job! They are a bit less great at dealing with dead bodies in basements, but even that would be preferable to finding a still-living one that smells like an alpha and doesn't look exactly...human. Anymore.
Seven's only memories are of being a lab rat for a mad scientist, but he knows how to protect his pack.

Laughed away by the captain, the coin diminished by an ill-advised attempt to drown his sorrows in drink, and dragged back to his master's shop by a watchman, he thinks he knows how things will go from here.
But, maybe, he doesn't.

Summary

The farce of the wedding games, with his hand as the prize, is bad enough — the lifetime of pain and humiliation he has to look forward to once he's married will be even worse.

They were, give or take, ten miles outside of Billings, which was ten hours by easily trackable bus from Spokane, where they'd seized a minor miracle and shaken their Tower handler less than thirteen hours ago, by Cal's best guess. Again, give or take, because he'd had to ditch his fucking watch when they couldn't get the tracker out of it. It wasn't panicking to point out the bleeding obvious; they needed to run or they'd get caught.
