Summary
They had been planning for months, and Newt noticed the shoulders of the brunette were always tense, and his eyes were always far in thought as he stared off into the distance while other spoke. He wasn't the confident, slightly arrogant bastard Newt felt comfortable following, comfortable settling into second-in-command. No, he was distant, tense, and jumpy, something Newt wasn't sure how to handle. Thomas had always been so sure of himself, and now Newt wasn't sure how to help him, or if he even wanted any help at all.
"If we lived in a different world," Thomas started, opening his eyes slowly to look at Newt. "I'd probably get down on one knee and marry you."
Newt stared shocked for a moment, but a grin took over his lips and a blush crept up his cheeks from his neck. "Take me to that safe haven and maybe that can be arranged."

“Listen, there you go. Listen to my voice. I’m right here.”
Bump-ba-bump
“Just feel Tommy, that’s it. Feel my heart. ‘S just the same as yours. Good that, huh?”
Ba-bump.
“That’s it, love.”“You were dead,” Thomas speaks after a pregnant pause, his voice scratchy and raw from what he can only assume was his own screams.
It hurts.
“I had– I had pulled the trigger and it didn’t- it hadn’t missed, this time, Newt. It didn’t miss and you- fuck, ” He chokes out, a sob high up in his throat, the barbed wire digging further and further into his skin. The sobs come out harder, now, violent and unforgiving as they shake Thomas’ broad frame. And Newt— Newt can feel nothing else except for the anger making itself at home in his bones at the fact that Thomas, brave, and stupid, and so very beautiful Thomas was being terrorized by his own mind; its claws digging and forcing themselves into his head, and placing down roots unable to be weeded up.
OR
Thomas has nightmares. Newt helps. And then some.

As the crowds disperse in the twilight and the trucks drive away, Thomas watches Safe Haven’s massive front gates begin to close on the outside world with a huge dull groan. The sound of it settles deep inside his chest. "C'mon Tommy," Newt calls easily from the huddle of their friends, sunset lighting them up in a way that makes Thomas's heart squeeze, nothing more noticeable than the gold in Newt's eyes. Thomas turns, but can’t resist a final glance over his shoulder at the forests beyond the gates. He freezes.
Because this is what Thomas knows.

Mike gets telepathic powers randomly, three years after Vecna’s defeat. He tunes into people’s thoughts, expecting every guy’s mind to be like his. When he finds surprisingly few gay thoughts about best friends, he’s forced to re-evaluate and see if maybe it’s just him? (it is.)
It doesn’t help that the one mind he wants to read the most seems to be set to a different frequency entirely.

“Oh!” he said. “Because I’m the pool guy.” And that’s not what he meant to say at all. He meant to say, “You think I’m the pool guy.”
