Summary
With the Absolute vanquished, the disinherited godchild finds herself, for the first time, alone. If she was going to be haunted by the sins of her past, she preferred to know what those sins were. In exchange for a piece of her soul, Withers agrees to bring back someone who claimed to know those sins better than anyone — Enver Gortash.
"That person you once knew… I don't think there's any bringing them back, either — not in the way you knew them."
She paused, thinking back on the few months her meager memory could retain. Someone had always been there to direct her — to a better or worse path, she couldn't always say. But they had pushed her forward at least. Always forward.
"I've changed," she said.
A shadow of pain passed ever so briefly on Gortash's face, then it was gone. He put on that practiced and easy smile — the same one he wore to patriars' balls and deals with devils alike.
"Then I'll simply have to get to know you all over again," said Gortash.

He has people searching for the man at this very moment, but if there’s one thing Lord Gortash can attribute as a virtue in Orin the Red, it is her affinity for obliteration. She isn't one to leave loose ends untied, either. Thus, Lord Gortash figures he should get the grief out of his system as soon as possible, because he’s a master plan to execute.

Durge's old personality and his post-amnesia one clash every five minutes; he's tired of external monologues and flashbacks yet they keep happening every five minutes; the illicit ilithid gives unsolicited advice every five minutes; he’s juggling with his moral alignment, you guessed it, every five minutes. So, he decides “Fuck it! I'll become a god myself, it runs in the family anyway! That'll solve all my problems AND I'll take my old situationship with me for the ride!”
TL;DR version: An OP resist!Durge steadily reverts back to a NE villain but some soft spots (Karlach shaped ones) remain. He's a shit friend, though.
