“... Come closer,” she finally says at the end, holding her hand out to him. “Let me inspect you.”
Shen Qingqiu hesitates - he has told no one where he went. If she were to pull some trick on him… But Madame Meiyin is well known for her palm readings, and she seems quite serious. Clutching Xiu Ya’s hilt tightly with one hand, he approaches and lets her take the other.
After a long moment, Madame Meiyin sobers even more, the last of her playful amusement fading entirely.
“Child, how are you even alive?” she asks him in horror.
Shen Qingqiu scowls, snatching his hand back from her. “This master did not come for a lecture. If you know what is wrong, then--”
“I most certainly know what is wrong,” she says. “You have been starving for your entire life!”

Summary
“Disciple Shen,” Yue Qingyuan says gently, and Shen Jiu starts very badly, before quickly attempting to act as if he’d done no such thing. Standing in the middle of a dark hallway of Yue Qingyuan’s home, he likely doesn’t even know where Yue Qingyuan’s bedroom is. “It is very late for you to be out of bed; your caretakers will worry about you.”
“Shut up!” Shen Jiu says, flushing bright red with indignation and embarrassment. Fully dressed and even with a knapsack presumably full of belongings slung over his shoulder, it is clear that this was a well prepared escape. How is that a six year old can continue to outwit the adults in charge of him? But of course he can; it’s Shen Jiu. Yue Qingyuan will need to have a word with them again in the morning. “I don’t care about those people, they’re strangers. Why can’t I live with you!?”
“We don’t have that sort of relationship,” Yue Qingyuan says yet again - he has had to explain this to Shen Jiu many times by now. He continues to refuse to understand or accept it. “It would be inappropriate.”

[Initiating punishment protocol.]
Wait wait wait wait.
What!?
Where is this coming from??
What did he do, System!? Lying in bed like a lump on a log, not moving or speaking as he tries and fails to drift to sleep, what could he conceivably be doing that would merit a punishment!? And where do you get off, barging in to dole out reprimands out of nowhere when you’ve been radio silent for the last few years! Is the plot over or isn’t it???
“Mn.” Plastered to his side like sticky rice as per usual, a needy arm curled around his waist to keep him close and make sure that he can’t wander off without waking him, Luo Binghe stirs slightly as Shen Qingqiu stiffens with rage. “Husband…?”
Shen Qingqiu opens his mouth to reassure him, but his voice completely refuses to leave his throat. And that’s when it appears.
1. “Get off, you’re suffocating me.” (Coldly push him away.)
2. “Husband, I’m feeling a little restless~” (Turn into him seductively.)
3. “It’s nothing, just a bad dream.”-
The System gets inventive, and Shen Qingqiu has to work with limited options.

That is how she spots him before he sees her.
There is a faint stir first, heads turning like flowers towards the sun - she recognizes the signs of an Important Person entering the room. A person to be feared and courted, someone you want on your side because they can hurt you. A sect leader of one of the larger sects, most likely - and Qiu Haitang turns her head to follow the stir, and sees him.
It’s Shen Jiu. She recognizes him instantly. There is not a single moment of confusion or doubt; it’s just him.

“Xiao-Jiu, will you marry me?”
The entire field fell silent.
YQY has been drugged with something nefarious! He keeps saying all kinds of nonsense that he surely doesn’t actually mean, like complimenting SQQ and saying he wants to be near him and asking to…marry him…
Well. What’s SQQ supposed to do? Not take advantage while YQY is in such an exploitable state? It’s not like it’s real, anyway; once YQY recovers, he’ll surely take it all back.
