Summary
The story of the Trojan War has developed over a very long time. Characters have changed, been added, maybe taken away. What do you define as you in such a case?
Half a fic, half a meditation over academic thought of how Hektor might be a relatively late addition to the story of the Trojan war (some suggest he was added for what became/is the Iliad specifically, even), and, more to the point, that Paris before Hektor was a more traditionally "heroic" character as defined by culture and the epic conventions of story. A more straightforward character that was changed in how he was written to make place for Hektor to take up some of his parts in the story.

At the end of the First Age, Melkor– Vala, Monster, Morgoth– is locked away outside the bounds of Arda and Eä.
There are no thieved jewels on his crown to give a light to him he could not create, nor any armor to hide that even now, his hands have not healed. He is as pale-haired as bright blight, though the strands around his empty crown are the color of steel rust.
This is not the problem. Though the Valar, of course, would tell you there is none.
Or: The Feanorians are locked in the same cage as the strongest of the Valar, and desperate measures are taken. The rest of Arda deals with the fallout.

It wasn’t that Jiang Cheng hadn’t liked Nie Huaisang well enough, when they were all learning together in the Cloud Recesses. Anyone who had the energy to keep up with Wei Wuxian – and just enough good sense to help veer him off the really bad ideas, even if he did keep egging him on in regards to the medium-grade bad ones – was good news in his books.
But liking him didn’t mean respecting him, and the fact that Nie Huaisang hadn’t participated much in the war – couldn’t participate much – had led Jiang Cheng to discount him more or less entirely.
That’s what made it all the more surprising when Nie Huaisang ended up being the unofficial leader of the three remaining Great Sects in opposing Jin Guangshan after the war.
