Dorothea leaned over and pulled out something from one of the boxes. “Would this help?” In her hands were a cloak, a helmet, and a mask. “I thought… maybe the Flame Emperor could introduce himself to me properly.”
Edelgard wordlessly strode forward. It had been years since she had worn this, but she remembered how to put it on easily. She took up the helmet first: it felt cool where it touched her skin, but there was a familiar comfort in that. She beckoned to the mask next; with a gentle smile, Dorothea fastened it to the helmet with a satisfying snap . Finally, Edelgard took the cloak from her beloved’s hands. Normally it could be fastened onto the Flame Emperor’s armour, but in the absence of that, Edelgard simply wrapped the cloak around her shoulders.

While cleaning out the room she and Edelgard share in Garreg Mach after the war, Dorothea discovers the Flame Emperor's clothing, prompting a discussion between the two of them about Edelgard's masked persona. When Edelgard accidentally reveals that he (she) identifies as male while wearing that outfit, she (he) worries what it will mean for the future of their relationship.
