Summary
Wolfwood supposed it was fitting in a cosmic sense that the highest of men had fallen back to the earth on their waxen wings. Perhaps that was why Vash could no longer take to the skies, despite the titanic wings that fluttered behind them. Even from afar, Wolfwood could see the ugliness that Vash felt within them. They were crooked and wrong — stunted like a scarred chest bound too tight. Do that long enough and you damn near train your body to accept failing lungs as a new standard of living.
What a way to live.
Thinking you’re only ever as much as your clipped wings and harsh bindings.
Wolfwood marveled at the fact. What a shitty way to die in half as many steps.
When he next looked down at Vash, he found impossibly baby-blue eyes staring back at him. There was a pleading look about it all as Vash weakly grabbed Wolfwood's hands. Vash was shaking hard enough that he could hear the man’s teeth chatter painfully with the effort it took to simply be present.
“Please,” Vash finally outright begged with a hoarse sob.

With Vash injured after the fight with Livio, it's up to Wolfwood to pick up all the broken pieces left behind.

Xiao did not understand the mortal fear of lightning. It was mundane, something so simple. His perspective of the world had changed entirely upon meeting Aether, so it wasn't unexpected that this opinion he had would change, too.

But it gets worse with time, like he’s fading away beneath the skin. He cannot remember how to navigate the plains. He asks passersby for directions. He comes face to face with a domain, and cannot for the life of him remember its name. He is Liyue, down to his core, and thus he is losing himself to this tide. He is polished and flattened by the sands of time, yet it is imperfection that allows him to remember all that has transpired under his watch.

Summary
Short character sketch, centering on Joe. It's a common belief among immortals (basically Booker and Andy, but that's almost half the population these days) that romantic love is temporary by its very nature. Wouldn't the same relationship get stale after a few centuries? Joe votes no, but of course, he's an incurable romantic.

“But not me,” Nile says.
“You’re too short for one of them to work,” Andy acknowledges, and then: “give me the gun.” Nile gives her a gun, which is promptly fired at her chest. Teal blooms over her vest. “The real gun, Nile. I am not a child.”
“But then you’ll shoot us for real,” says Nicky patiently.
“My love, I think that’s an unfair reality we have to get accustomed to,” Joe says, dropping from a hole in the roof and shooting three paintballs, none of which find their mark.
