Summary
Ryland Grace and Rocky bring the Hail Mary out of retirement when it becomes clear that their universe is not the only one being affected by astrophage.
This is complicated by the fact that some of the universes are domains of death, suffering, and anarchy, while others rely mainly on the power of friendship and song. Between their conflicting tones of satire, gothic literature, cosmic horror, and kid-friendly humor, they may never unravel which of them was actually supposed to save the multiverse in the first place.

Focused as he is on Hotguy, Cub barely notices himself being backed into a corner. Cub’s powers mean that the world holds very few actual corners for him, but- A selfish urge, to have Hotguy’s hands on him, to be slammed against a wall- To make the whole thing real.
A miscalculation. Hotguy does lay hands on him, but not to throw.

Hotguy’s power suppression cuffs. Cub had forgotten them. Hotguy never uses them on Cub.
Hotguy looks almost as startled as Cub does by his own actions. By the cuff on Cub’s wrist, real and solid.
If Cub phases out now, everyone will know. Hotguy will know. For the sake of his powers ruse, Cub has to pretend his powers are properly suppressed by the cuffs.
In a snap decision Cub may never understand about himself, he snatches the other cuff out of Hotguy’s hand, slapping it closed around Hotguy’s wrist with a second decisive click.Or:

“Simon.” The woman barely got the word out before her throat closed, and a choked sob cracked open the floodgates. “My- my name is Simon.”
Those were the last words that left her for a long, long time, as her vision blurred with hot tears. Simon’s lungs rattled with ugly, wonderful, broken sobs, and everything she’d felt in the depths of that ocean broke from her. And finally, heart in her throat, Grace took a shaky step forward. And another. And another, until she carefully knelt down in front of Simon. Maybe it was an awful idea, because this woman was scared, and confused, and completely raw in every emotion. But her hand came to rest on the woman’s trembling knee, and though she was not the one shaking, her voice still cracked when she spoke.
“You’re alive, Simon. You’re safe. No one’s gonna hurt us again.”

Curiosity kills the cat, Grace and Rocky get a little bit more than they bargained for, and the Hail Mary might just have a new crewmate.

"Crowley?" Aziraphale's eyes were wide with shock and horror when the demon met his gaze. "What happened?"

"Of course not. But something went definitely wrong."
Aziraphale swallowed, followed the nervous habit of biting his bottom lip - and instantly flinched in pain. The sight made an unwelcome thought manifest itself in Crowley's short-circuited brain. A horrible thought. Yet the only theory he had so far. What if...-

"Angel. Give me your hand."

"Why are you doing this?"
Aziraphale's voice is faint, his breathing uneven. Crowley doesn't lift his eyes to see the sickly look on his face, the twist of pain where only joyous smiles should ever be.
"Bandages need changing", he mumbles, eyes fixed firmly on his working hands.
"No. I meant-" He can hear as Aziraphale swallows. "Why do you care for me?"
It isn't just 'why do you take care of me'. It's 'why do you still care at all'.
Crowley has to close his eyes for a second, makes sure Aziraphale doesn't see.
"Cause you're here", he says, voice carefully detached, "and you're hurt, and you need someone. And that someone's gotta be me."
"Why?"
He won't answer that. He can't answer that.
"Don't ask stupid questions."

Or, the one where Heaven punishes Aziraphale the only way they know how, Crowley is there to help pick up the pieces, and maybe they can actually build something new and much more beautiful from both their broken shards.- Language:
