The Firebending Masters saw into the hearts of the Fire Nation Prince and the Avatar and knew they were not yet ready to fulfill their destinies. So now the world of Heroes and Villains has to manage a couple of child soldiers until they get their act together.

Summary
Mokuba is kidnapped. Sugoroku's soul is separated from his body. Shizuka's condition is getting worse. The answer to these problems lies in Duelist Kingdom, where Pegasus M. J. Crawford has let Yugi and the Puzzle know their participation is not optional. They and Katsuya plan on taking the tournament by storm.
It is not as simple as a tournament claims to be. Not with Hiroto and Ryou stowing away to join their friends, Anzu watching over the comatose Kaiba, and Mai getting wrapped up with these kids when she thought she had problems.

In hindsight, a lot of Seto's behavior will make a lot more sense to Mokuba when viewed through the lens of "he is a time traveler who is in love with an ancient pharaoh who will show up, but hasn't yet". Mokuba doesn't have that context in the beginning, though, and it takes him a bit to figure it out.
No, the context Mokuba starts with is this:
On an early morning, Kaiba Seto pushes Kaiba Gozaburo out the window to his untimely demise, in a move that was richly deserved but Mokuba never really saw Seto as doing, before hiring a random fellow high schooler as his secretary. Things only spiral from there, really.
