“I hate it,” Jason mumbles, closing his eyes when Tim drops his head back to look at him. He keeps Tim’s hand in his own, locking their fingers together.
“I know you do, I’m sorry,” Tim whispers. Jason shakes his head softly with a small sigh.
“It’s his brand… it’s like I’m… I’ll never be able to escape it.” Jason opens his eyes, lifting his gaze to meet Tim’s. He knows the sadness in Tim’s eyes is mirrored in his own.
“…look at it this way, it could stand for Jason. You belong to yourself, you’re your own man.” Tim offers, sounding unsure. Jason manages a weak smile.
“Let’s be honest, we both know I belong to you.”

The Eridian thrills a high sound that doesn’t get picked up by the translator which means that it has no clear meaning. Like when a human gasps or sucks in a deep breath. It actually sounds a little like that. When they notice that I’m staring straight at them they scramble back into their hiding spot and hold very still.
A child, I realize with a start.
That’s a child!
“Hey,” I call and the kid squeaks again. I was about to get to my feet but abort the movement and crawl closer on my hands and knees until I'm inches away from the xenonite wall. I wait and it takes me much too long to realize that they don’t have to peek around the corner to see if I’m still there.
“Hey there,” I try again, my voice low and calm. It’s my teacher voice, the one I use for shy and scared students.

The fact that I haven’t had to use it for years and it still comes to me automatically almost knocks the air out of my lungs but this is not about me, it’s about making sure the little pebble doesn’t die of fright from the scary alien. “Hi, I’m Grace. It’s alright, you don’t have to be scared.”

The sound of shuffling came muffled through the speaker as Jason waited impatiently to hear a reason good enough to justify standing between him and sleep.
“We’re… it's easier to explain in person.”
“Fuck you. I’m going to bed.”
But before Jason could even pull the phone away from his ear, Dick blurted out, “It’s Tim.”
That gave him immediate pause, and he kind of hated the fact that he knew it would, and that Dick knew it would. Dick had been insufferable ever since he’d picked up on Jason’s inexplicable fondness for the younger man.
If it had been anyone else - well, he still would’ve gone and helped with whatever mess they’d gotten themself in, but with enough griping and groaning to make them regret ever typing in his number.
But it wasn’t anyone else. It was Tim. And the thought of Tim being in trouble made something tight clench in his chest and all his other problems were pushed to the backburners while the front burners were occupied by pots boiling over with worry fear find protect care.
His teeth ground together.
“Talk.”

“If he wouldn’t even let you get close, what makes you think I’m going to have any more luck?” For as well as they got along, Jason and Tim weren’t exactly packmates. They were both technically part of the same pack, but their relationship wasn’t fraternal the way Tim and Dick’s was. Jason didn’t know what they were. All he knew was that they worked great together, had the same sense of humor, and occasionally Jason fantasized about wooing Tim with small treats and poetry until they fell in love, eloped, and ran away to the Mediterranean to live out the rest of their days in a cottage by the sea.

Peter thought he died. He should've. But then again when he wakes up on a cargo ship, alone in a cage- he starts to rethink if actually did die. It soon becomes clear that either way if this was reincarnation, dimension travel or anything else- he was stuck here now. Stuck in this new, strangely bleak city called Gotham.
He has gone through a lot recently; dying, getting thrown into another universe, being homeless for a bit etc etc. So when he loses his coffee on the sidewalk to a very polite man who just so happens to be a butler, how was Peter supposed to know it would change the entire trajectory of his new life?
Yet strangely enough, he wouldn't have changed it for anything.

“Fancy,” Tony says, reaching out to take it.
Strange pulls his hand back instead and says, “Forgive me, Tony.”
Tony can’t move. He freezes in place, hand twitching above the changed arc reactor. Confusion, followed by shock, followed very quickly by fear driven anger as Tony snap his eyes back to Strange.
Strange meets his gaze and says, “When you find him, ask Tim for help.”
