Summary
Mizrak thinks he should be praying. God would want to hear him, know he still loves him as he nears death. He can’t bring himself to. God has not listened to his prayers before, not when Emmanuel was dealing with the devil and vampires, not when he begged for insight and help when trying to figure out his relationship with Olrox, not when they were desperate for anything to fight against the so-called Vampire Messiah. Why would he listen now? All he could do was tuck his head into Olrox’s neck and try not to cry out when his leg jostled.

Instead of Mizrak getting fatally stabbed, he gets the Trevor fighting Death treatment (beaten and stabbed to hell and back but not dying) and Olrox nurses him back to health.

Summary
Olrox barely makes it three steps before collapsing against a wall. He grimaces down at the tear in his waistcoat, assessing the damage. He’d be dead already if he were anyone else. As it is, there’s a gruesome rend from his side right through to his spine. Any further and her slash would have cleaved him in half.
Mizrak collapses beside him as soon as he’s within range, distraught tears leaking down his cheeks. All of Olrox burns with the need to comfort him.
‘Don’t cry,’ he chokes out. ‘Just think. This time tomorrow … you’ll have one less monster stalking your path.’
TAGLINE: Olrox is mortally wounded in the final battle instead of Mizrak. Somehow, it leads them to their happy ending.

Summary
Some months have passed since they've mentioned anything about children, let alone that one off-hand comment about vampire heat. Today, Mizrak wakes up with an affliction that wracks his brain and his thoughts louder than ever. Of course, for a man who only relied on himself, why would he be reciprocal, let alone let someone else help him out? Maybe that changes today.
Maybe finally, he listens to Olrox.
