Summary
The last two hours pass strangely. Fifteen minutes feels like nothing, but a single second takes forever. Ghost doesn't watch the clock for the sake of his own sanity, but he can hear its obnoxious ticking. Tick tick tock, like the seconds it took to ice Makarov and then throw himself at Soap's side, try to stem the bleeding, try to hold the pieces of his skull together. Tick tock, the handfuls of seconds it took to disarm the bomb and get medical to them. Tick tock, tick tock - the assembly of all those monitors, tubes and wires like Soap was a machine on the brink of self-destruction, a second bomb waiting to explode. The too-slow rise and fall of his chest, the manic-fast surge of his heartbeat. The long, long hours waiting to see if he'd even be able to be stabilized, rushed to surgery, the endless pacing outside of the ICU doors waiting, waiting, waiting…
Tick tock.

Summary
Getting shot in the head should have killed Soap. Technically, it did. But Ghost got his heart beating again.
A year of recovery, and he’s finally back where he belongs: with Task Force 141.
Back with Ghost.
He shouldn’t think about Ghost the way he does. Shouldn’t imagine those hands on him. Shouldn’t wonder about the man behind the mask. And he definitely shouldn’t want him with the kind of hunger that has no place between teammates.
But wanting has never cared much for should.
So now he’s back in the middle of chasing Makarov, trying to keep his head straight while everything in him keeps turning toward Ghost.
Duty’s one thing. Desire’s another.
And coming back from the dead has a way of making a man honest about both.

Summary
Soap died from Makarov’s bullet.
Or at least, he was fairly fucking certain he did.
Everything went black. His body vanished from him first, then the pain, then the room. He could not move. Could not breathe. Could not hear Price anymore. There was only the dark and the strange, distant knowledge that he had been here before, or somewhere close to it.
Then a voice spoke.
Not beside him. Not above him.
Everywhere.
“Oh, you have got to be joking.”
Soap would have startled if he still had a body. As it was, he existed in a sort of stunned, bodiless confusion while the voice continued, furious and disbelieving.
“I did not create another alternative universe just for one of you to die on the other again.”
Soap, who had been in the process of floating away from all pain, all duty, all grief, had just enough awareness left to think that death was apparently much stranger than anyone had warned him about.
The voice sharpened.
“Get back here, you fucker.”
And Soap did.

Summary
Soap flipped him off and went back to scouting through his lenses while Ghost studied his body language. It was like looking at a stranger, only worse because Ghost could actually read a stranger’s body language better than Soap’s at the moment.
“I’ll take point with you on overwatch, clear the building, eliminate the target, blow the building.” Soap’s analysis was quick, efficient, and within mission parameters. Ghost felt his heartrate accelerate.
“Rog.” He went to get into position and then stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Soap pull out a mask. It was a red half skull, like Ghost’s in every way but the color, and finally Ghost understood the dread that had been creeping into his body since Soap’s behavior had started to change. He was turning into a ghost.

Summary
Johnny teased him, saying it was probably in relation to him in some way. Simon had just sighed, asking what the point of a passcode even was if he was going to be that predictable.
One would think that the great Simon “Ghost” Riley would be better at lying.
