With this comes some challenges: the scum villain and his white lotus disciple won't leave him alone, the System rejoices at any opportunity to bully him, and Shen Yuan needs to conquer his fear of animals.

How fortuitous. The blame had been claimed so thoroughly by Haitang, Qiu Jianluo was blazing full steam ahead on the topic of the manor’s cleansing. The master cultivator himself couldn’t even apologise for his disciple, for fear of offending the Qiu’s further, and all ‘A-Yuan’ had to do now was stand there and wring his hands.
Shen Jiu stared at the other boy. Was it on purpose?

When he finally finds the perfect excuse, it doesn't matter much to him that it would mean disrupting the careful courtship he's had going for years, so long as he can help Shen Qingqiu.

Summary
Shen Yuan has had a push-and-pull relationship with Shen Qingqiu for years. Shen Yuan knows that Shen Qingqiu is meant to be a villain, but he knows just as well that many of the things Shen Qingqiu was accused of in Proud Immortal Demon Way were just shitty misunderstandings, and over the years Shen Yuan has become reluctantly fond of his Shizun.
Abusing Luo Binghe was not a misunderstanding, though, and Shen Yuan will do whatever he can to correct the fact that he wasn't there to protect Luo Binghe when it happened.

I responded to its channel, “Yeah, but I don’t know if I’m the right one to help.”
3.03 seconds passed. Then Three said, “I can help. I’ll go.”

Then I hear something new. Not only new words, but a new tone, a new feeling in the feed. This message is only to me.

And then, «Your work is acknowledged.»
I want to cry. I want to rip something apart with my teeth – I want to scream loud enough to bring the habitat down. I want to cry. But I can't.
So instead I tap it back in the feed. «Negative. Your work is acknowledged.»
