Summary
Steve Harrington, co-owner of Petal & Thorn Tattoo, prided himself on being able to get along with anyone. Growing up with his parents and attending more social functions than he ever cared to think about, it was practically a requirement. So, when local band Corroded Coffin began renting the suite across from his tattoo shop and he was forced to meet their loud, obnoxious, over-the-top frontman Eddie Munson, it came as an absolute shock that he could not stand to be in the same room as him.
What was even worse was that Robin and Nancy, somehow, seemed to love the guy. When they asked him to at least try to get along with the man, for their sake, he took that as a challenge.

Eddie Munson, with no future left for him in Hawkins, grabbed his band, dragged them to California, and gave up everything for a chance at fame.
For the first time in his life, taking a risk paid off. Corroded Coffin shot to the top of the charts in a matter of months. Their concept album may have been inspired by Hawkins, but Eddie never had to think about that awful fucking town again.
Or at least, not for three years.
In 1989, after the last show of Corroded Coffin's "Nails in the Coffin" tour, its frontman finds himself speeding down the highway from Indianapolis back to Hawkins. Back home. To save the people who saved him back in spring of 1986.
He arrives just in time to see Steve Harrington rise into the air.

“It was Steve’s idea actually,” Robin interjected, “he wanted to go somewhere I could actually enjoy myself, dancing with people without them getting the wrong idea.”
“Yeah well, it wasn’t half bad.” Steve added and took a sip of his beer.Or
Steve tried to tell Eddie how he felt, only to get shut down immediately. Now meeting for the first time in a year, they have to figure out how to be around each other.

Summary
After saving Eddie from the Upside Down, Steve hides him at his house while the party concocts a plot to clear Eddie's name. What Steve doesn't expect is how much he likes hanging out with Eddie as they get to know each other.
Under the looming shadow of the Mind Flayer threatening to destroy Hawkins, Steve and Eddie realize they're each grappling with their own darkness, from Steve's father's impossible expectations to Eddie's feelings of worthlessness.
Their friendship develops into something more even as the party prepares to fight Vecna and his monsters one last time. Steve must decide if he's ready to shrug off the rigid roles assigned to him and become his own person. Eddie must learn to embrace what Steve has been trying to show him every day since nearly dying: that he's worth saving.
Author's Note: This is basically me speculating what Season 5 might look like, with Eddie surviving and from Steve's perspective. Enjoy!

Eddie cocks his head, almost hitting the toilet in the process.
“Well, I found you sitting here in the dark on the bathroom floor, Harrington,” Eddie explains patiently. “I was, you know, mildly concerned but I can leave if you want me to.”
It’s like that “oh my god they were roommates” vine except with mental illness and the excruciating catharsis of being known.

Couldn’t look at him again, not when he was still dripping wet from the pool. “I didn’t know you could clean Munson?” He was smirking in the corner. The little shit had snuck in when he wasn’t looking.
“Am I to his majesty’s standards? What did I say about being in here near the glass?” He was greeted with a shrug and took the dustpan roughly out of Steve’s outstretched arms.
“I like it when you get bossy.” What could he say to that? He knew what he wanted to say. Yeah? Get on your knees then pretty boy.

He completely pauses, pushes on Eddie’s hips so he can force him back, get a good look at him, confusion clear across his face. Eddie looks at him with these droopy eyes, lids heavy and pupils blown. He looks so lost in it all, Steve hates to stop it.
“What?” He asks, though it sounds a little flat, not like a question, like a statement.

When he found Eddie’s eyes again, he saw that they were still holding him in that unflinching gaze of his, the fluorescents above their heads casting sparks on the deep brown of his irises. Steve blinked, as if waking up suddenly from a strange, intense dream.
“Hi,” he said simply, his head tilted to one side in unadulterated wonder. Eddie’s smile turned soft, his shoulders relaxing a fraction, as if releasing a long-held weight. When he spoke again, his voice was gentle and familiar, summer rain on overheated skin, dewdrops on the grassy hill outside of town.

Summary
Eddie Munson never saw much use in Valentine's Day.
He spent his young life ignoring and avoiding the holiday, and he was perfectly happy to continue doing so...until hopelessly romantic Steve Harrington came into the picture.
Steve's eyes were dark as they devoured Eddie from his damp curls, down his bare, scarred torso, to the towel Eddie currently had clutched tightly in one hand and slung low around his hips, down to his toes and back up. It was a slow slide of a gaze that had Eddie feeling hot inside. Steve was blushing hard and Eddie was sure his own face was just as red.
"Should I get the polaroid, sweetheart?" Eddie asked, faking every ounce of the teasing confidence injected into his tone. "You can take a picture."
Robin's gleeful cackle followed Eddie down the hallway as he went to change in the bedroom, leaving Steve stammering in the living room. Eddie's heart was racing.
Late that night, nearly midnight, while they lay together in their shared bed, Steve kissed Eddie for the first time.

Eddie laughs from his position between Steve’s legs in the large bathtub, holding his glass as he rests his head back against Steve’s shoulder. Hot water soaks his muscles, sore everywhere that’d been so full of the man behind him.
He feels Steve’s arms wrap around his torso to pull him closer at the same time that warm, burgundy-stained lips brush his temple. Eddie’s glass tips just a bit, the unexpected movement sending sips of red wine into the bath water. He thinks for a moment that there’s something poetic about the red wine in the clear water, the way it mirrors the way Steve had helped clean his wounds in the same bathtub just months back.
Unfortunately, poetry only exists in hindsight. The blood wasn’t beautiful until Eddie had Steve to link it to, nor was the wine– it was just red.

However, he's growing awfully used to it.
It’s what he’s choosing to focus on. The smell of it. How it burns his nose. Clings heavy in his throat and fills his lungs with its thick, metallic haze.
That is, when he can breathe.
It’s awful hard to breathe.
But he’s trying. God fucking damn it, he’s trying. And it hurts worse than anything, worse than the bites or the torn flesh or the aching all over. It burns worse than the smell. He can’t tell if it’d be easier to breathe through his nose or his mouth, so he just sort of heaves with his mouth open and hopes that air gets in somehow.
He might be dying.
Steve says he’s not dying, very insistent on that, in fact, but Eddie’s not sure if he believes him.
