    Summary

“Superboy! Thank God you’re here!” one of the officers blurted the moment Kon approached, his face a mottled mask of sweat and professional helplessness. He was a veteran cop, judging by the lines around his eyes, and Kon could see the deep crack in his professional composure. This wasn't a standard situation. This was personal, fragile, and utterly human. “There’s a fourteen-year-old up there. Marielle Fayek… she got into a fight with her parents, and now she’s saying she’s gonna jump.”

Kon’s eyes darted to Lois, wide with the silent panic of someone being handed a glass sculpture and told not to drop it. How the hell am I gonna do that? his expression screamed, his chest tight with the realization that all his strength, all his tactile powers, were useless here. He was Superboy, the clone built for power, the young man whose purpose was physical defense of the Earth, yet he felt as clumsy and ill-equipped as a newborn.

    Summary

Hal Jordan was dying long before a mission went wrong and his heart finally gave out.

He was dying when he signed the divorce papers. Dying without making it anyone else’s problem.

    No one Noticed.
Not Bruce. Not Clark. Not the Justice League.

And Hal was fine with that because twenty months ago he signed away the right to have anyone worry about him.

He would have kept it that way, too If he hadn’t burned himself out saving the world. If he hadn’t collapsed hard enough that everyone finally had to look.

Now Bruce and Clark are hovering like they never spent nearly two years avoiding him. Acting like this is their burden to carry, like they didn’t already decide, once, that letting him go was easier than staying.

Hal doesn’t understand it. There’s no cure. If Oa hasn’t found one, there’s no point in pretending otherwise. He’s made peace with dying.

    Bruce and Clark haven’t.

They refuse to give up on him the way they gave up on the marriage. And that more than the poison in his blood or the ache in his chest is what hurts the most.

Because Hal is still in love with them. And loving them while they fight to save him might be the one thing he can’t survive.

    Summary

We at the Daily Planet have been allowed to use a sample of recordings from Justice League communicators to show what heroes really talk about when they fight.

    Here's a preview:

Superman: Alright, let’s stop it right there. No bragging about how good we’d be as villains. We’ve gone over this way too many times.

Flash: Imagine Batman as a villain.
