“I will not be made a spectacle of,” Curufin forced out, his voice shaking with fury and embarrassment. For a moment it looked as if he might say more, but then he turned and strode from the dining room, shoulders stiff and fists clenched at his sides, almost running.
Celegorm was on his feet at once. “I’ll go,” he said.
Maedhros rose more slowly, calm but determined. “No, I will.”
“Sit down, both of you,” Fëanor said, trying to ignore the doubt in their eyes as they turned to look at him. He would be lying if he said it did not sting. “I’m his father. I’ll handle this.”

When a dinner revelation leaves Curufin shaken and humiliated, Fëanor resolves to respond with love and understanding.
And he does – until a brilliant idea occurs to him, and the evening takes an altogether different turn.

Completely disregarding the Maia, Fëanor swept majestically past Eönwë, his fear-inducing offspring dutifully following behind in dignified disorder and chattering merrily along the way.
In which Fëanor takes things literally, Elrond makes a suggestion, and a banquet does not go the way Varda had planned it.
She really should have known better than to slight the house of Fëanor.
