Summary
A routine patrol through the depths of Zaun turns into something far worse when Caitlyn and Vi take a wrong turn—into an alley that feels wrong. The space feels off, too narrow, too deep, the air thick with something unseen. The deeper they go, the stranger things happen to them—brick walls pulse as if breathing, the shadows stretch in ways they shouldn’t, and the silence hums with something waiting. By the time they realize their mistake, it’s too late.
And then, just as suddenly as they entered, they escape. Or at least, they think they do. The alley vanishes behind them like a bad dream, swallowed by the city as if it had never been there at all. But the feeling lingers—something is wrong.
It's then that Caitlyn realizes: some places are never truly left behind. And some reflections aren’t meant to be seen.
A/N: Hi everyone, I'm glad the good people on Reddit have organized this Fanfiction February event. I got to practice my writing and hope to improve. Being gay in the 1960's meant being closeted and being cautious. If a nurse, like Delia or Patsy, was found out they would surely lose their nursing license, and worse. So you had to be particularly careful if you found someone you fancied. Misinterpret one signal and it could spell disaster. So how did Delia and Patsy ever find the courage to brave the odds and make a first move? This is my idea of how it all started.
