    Bookmarker's Notes

I read the second work in this series *first* by accident almost a year ago (oops) and to this day I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. I was struggling with both my mental and physical health back around the time I found The Show Starts Now, and it had been hitting me especially hard the week I started reading it. After the first chapter hooked my mystery loving ass, I spent several evenings forcing my sister (god bless their patient soul) to listen to me ramble about it for hours on end because I had to explain every plot twist and character to her because TSSN alone has so much to offer. I used to be confused when people said that reading fanfiction got them through tough times, but god dammit I know exactly what they’re talking about now. I’m not lying when I say that this is genuinely some of the best writing I’ve ever had the privilege of reading (MUCH better than a lot of physically published books I’ve read!), and I wish I could go back and read it for the first time again.

Every single character felt fleshed out and *important* in some way, which means the world to me especially when characters like Ryoma and Kirumi (both usually looked over by the fandom) get their individual times to shine, as well as characters like Angie, Gonta and Kiyo being more than just plot devices. That being said, the author never takes time *away* from the other characters to give another the spotlight. I won’t spoil anything because this is just a bookmark but oh my god. These characters— especially Rantaro, Tsumugi, and Miu if you asked me personally— are beautifully written and I can tell how much time and love was put into every single one of them and their stories. Everything MATTERS and everyone MATTERS in some way! I think I almost cried at some points because of FUCKING SHUICHI MAKING MY HEART HURT T^T. If you ask me, this series is the best example of a superpower AU done right; I’ve used it as an example of great plot and AU execution during several different conversations about fanfiction, and it’s definitely the one I’ve recommended the most.

I HIGHLY recommend this series if you want a good read with two fics already finished to latch onto (and a third fic that ISN’T ABANDONED AND IS STILL BEING UPDATED?!? IN THIS DAY AND AGE?!?), I promise you it’s more than worth it. Anyways, thank you author for getting me back into the superpower genre, this series holds a special place in my heart and I’m finally bookmarking it so I don’t lose it again ToT.

Rantaro Amami is dying. Over and over. Day after day.

On the final day of the countdown, amidst the scramble to end the Killing Game before people end up dead, he finds mysterious new messages on his Monopad, all signed by him, all promising certain death if he doesn’t find his killer before day’s end.

If repetition is the mother of learning, he’s a bastard child.

Best drv3 fic ive ready hands down. Side tangent i love that the characters are forming platonic relationships and we actually get to see them!!!! Thats always fun, especially in fics with ships cause they usually get overshadowed BUT NOT IN THIS ONE!!!!
