“Zuko! I think this lovely girl would like some tea. Please serve her.” the man chuckles through his whole body before winking at the two of them individually. He flounces off, leaving them gaping at each other.
“What can I get you?” he sighs, grumbling something under his breath about crazy old people and their meddling ways.
Zuko, the name is vaguely familiar but Katara writes it off, completely distracted. She is struggling to find her voice in her Si Wong desert of a throat. “Just some jasmine tea.” she chokes out, holding onto her necklace for dear life. “With honey.”
He merely grunts and stalks off, not nearly as friendly as his uncle.
She sighs. She has got to stop finding pretty boys at every pit stop.

Suguru was better at this whole comforting thing than Shoko is.
That was her first thought when Satoru burst through her door, a storm of confusion and questions and despair. He tumbles onto the floor, limbs splayed as he stares at the ceiling.
Shoko pulls a cigarette from her pocket. She’ll need it.
“I brought sake,” Gojo shakes the bottle in the air.
She takes a long drag from her cigarette. The smoke swirls through her teeth as she says, “Are you just going to lie there?”
“I wanna drink.”
“You don’t like alcohol,” Shoko reminds him, strolling into the kitchenette. She grabs a few glasses— three by habit— and places them on the coffee table.
He sits up, gazing through the window at the practice rings outside. “I could like alcohol. Impossible things happen, Shoko! If Suguru can leave, I can like alcohol.”

“Maybe this letter might pick you up a little.” Akaashi passes Suga a blue-tinted envelope before returning to typing leisurely on his laptop. “Kenma-san mentioned New Years was at Hinata and Kageyama’s this year, by the way. He asked— well, pleaded— for us help them plan. I have to say, I’d be curious to see what they think a party should—”
Suga’s coughing fit cuts Akaashi off as boiling hot tea splashes out his nose. He skims the address over and over again, heart picking up its pace a little. Oikawa Tooru, it recites in a neat print. A handwritten print. “Tooru wrote me? From Argentina? He knows how to send mail?”
Akaashi’s half-smile flickers over his face. “One would think sending a text might be easier but Oikawa-san always needs a little flair.”
Suga snorts, eyes still scanning the penned letters of his own name. A letter. From Oikawa. My letter. That Oikawa wrote.

Katara’s brows drew together. “When benders touch you, your fire changes colors?”
He bit his lip hard enough to taste blood. “No. When your ‘soulmate’,” he put air-quotes around the word, his voice shaking, “touches you. I mean almost no one after Kai married a bender— whether it was their soulmate or not. There’s no way to know it’s true.”
“But I’ve seen your fire turn bl— oh. Oh.” she shook her head, turning away from him. “That’s ridiculous.”
“I know.” he huffed.
“But your fire—”
“I know.”
Silence fell over them.
Zuko jolted when Katara laid a warm hand on his shoulder. He told himself he was imagining the tingling feeling that spread through his palms. “Let’s try it.”
