Irina Rozanov is alive. She moved to Boston with Ilya when he was 5. Ilya plays for the Boston Raiders.
Shane's parents died when he was 5. Passed from one orphanage to another, one foster home to another, he finally ran away when he was 15. After a lot of struggle and hardship, he was drafted after a scout saw him practicing by himself in a public rink. But old habits die hard.
When you grow up learning that love is temporary, that asking for it is needy and annoying, you become quiet. You stop asking. You make do with scraps.
Shane longs for more but is too scared to ask. Ilya wants more but fears Shane walking away if he asks.Let's see how their story goes in this universe.

He could already imagine Shane’s face when he saw the official-looking divorce papers from Ilya Rozanov. Shane would open the envelope, read the first few lines, spiral for solid thirty seconds, and then notice the tiny line Hayden had hidden near the top of the page.
