When Azula presented as an alpha Ozai was proud and it took Azula many years to realize that the pride he felt wasn’t because of anything she did or accomplished, it was only related to her status as an alpha. She would hate to admit it but Zuko did great things too, when he wasn’t an idiot, but because of his status as a beta he didn’t get as much acknowledgement by their father. He had to work harder for it. It took a long time for Azula to unlearn everything her dad taught her about how alphas, betas and omegas are supposed to be.

The words feel suggestive. Her thighs press together instinctively, her eyes squeezing shut as if that might ease the ache in her chest and belly, the one that knows it has been far too long without her alpha. Time was supposed to heal. Time had allowed Korra’s scent to fade from their bed, from the mansion, from Asami’s skin and even her blood. Maybe the scars on their necks would never disappear completely, but they were supposed to fade, weren’t they?
Instead the scar feels raw again, exposed, as though the wound has been reopened by Korra’s mere presence.

Apple Bloom watched her sister look both ways before taking a few more steps down the driveway, ducking as the older girl looked back at the house one more time so she wouldn’t be caught peeping. When she dared to look back over the windowsill the girl was out of sight, probably already down the road, and all she could do was stare. Applejack was, quite frankly, the last person the redhead would ever suspect to sneak out - her inability to lie and dedication to honesty were probably some of the biggest traits in her whole personality. Pulling out of her stupor and almost tripping over her bedside table in the process, Apple Bloom reached for her phone, immediately opening Instagram and finding a familiar group chat.

Applejack couldn’t stop smoothing out her blazer on the walk to the Christmas party Rarity was hosting at the boutique. It wasn’t as if she’d been informed at the last minute, hell she’d been looking forward to it weeks before exam week had even started, but as she put up a hand to thank the car letting her cross the street, she noticed just how sweaty her palms were. Granny and Apple Bloom had insisted she bring a bottle of apple cider as a “housewarming gift,” as she’d missed the opening party the month prior, and approaching the building she saw in her dreams and over FaceTime calls, she was suddenly glad for the heavy grounding bottle under her arm. The blonde caught herself adjusting the neck of her outer layer again, subconsciously doing so, and groaned aloud into the night, running a hand through her newly cut hair instead while the other kept the bottle from making pleasant acquaintance with the concrete. Even that didn’t scratch the itching need to fidget. She felt too dressed up for the Christmas party, and yet she couldn’t help but feel nowhere near nice enough to see her soon-to-be-official, if all goes well, girlfriend for the first time since August.

It was on her way to lunch that someone grabbed her arm and started to drag her through the halls. Alarmed at first, she went to pull away, but she was hit with a familiar smell, Rarity, a sweet vanilla perfume she’d been buying since she was 11, and she instantly relaxed, letting herself be tugged. They weaved through the crowds of people rushing to get to the cafeteria, eventually turning a corner into a deserted bathroom that made the footfall outside sound like miles away, as if hearing music from another room. It was only then, really, that Applejack had any time to look at her friend, to really take her in for longer than a second. Her hair was frizzy, with flyaways falling out of every corner of her bun and into her face, lacking any of her usual jewelry. She wore an oversized Nirvana shirt draped over her body, hiding the curves she preferred to show off, her lips chapped and lacking their usual shade, eyes seeming bigger than they were without her mascara or eyeliner outlining them - Applejack had never seen anyone so beautiful. Rarity looked like she’d just rolled out of bed, and she had never wanted something as much as she wanted to tell her how gorgeous she was.
