Ticket Taker could never thank him enough for his sadistic ability to rub salt in the wound without even realizing it. He hated him a little, but never as much as Harlequin and his innate ability to cause him stress just by existing.
It was no coincidence that Jester had planned that trip to lock him in the same cabin with the two of them, for hours and hours. -

Ticket Taker non lo avrebbe mai ringraziato abbastanza per quella sua capacità sadica di girare il dito nella piaga senza neanche accorgersene. Un po’ lo odiava, ma mai quanto Harlequin e la sua innata capacità di provocargli stress soltanto esistendo.
Non era un caso che Jester avesse pianificato quel viaggio in modo da chiuderlo nella stessa cabina con loro due, per ore e ore. -

«Don’t touch it.»
Harlequin turned towards him, his smile so wide it reached both his ears. «Otherwise? What happens?»
The tips of his claws brushed against the stoppers of those small vials arranged on Doctor’s table, in the dim light.
The red monster didn’t even turn in his direction, but stood with his arms crossed, watching his Fools at work, cleaning the scaffold in his tent of the blood from his latest experiment.
«I don’t know.»
Harlequin’s enthusiasm waned a little at that reply. «What do you mean, you don’t know?»
«It’s material destined for disposal. My latest experiment didn’t go as planned.» Doctor’s eyes glinted beneath his hood and turned towards him. «I can tell you what the consequences are on a human body, though. In tiny details.»
Harlequin snorted. «As long as it doesn’t make your head or your balls explode, I don’t care.» He grinned again. «Does it do that? Does it make your balls explode?»
«No, but—»
«Then I want to taste it. Maybe it’s as good as the last one…» -

Harlequin si girò verso di lui, il sorriso così largo che arrivava a toccargli entrambe le orecchie. «Altrimenti? Che succede?»
La punta dei suoi artigli sfiorò i tappi di quelle piccole ampolle disposte sul tavolo di Dottore, nella penombra.
Il mostro rosso non si girò neanche nella sua direzione, ma rimase a braccia incrociate a osservare il lavoro dei suoi Folli, intenti a pulire il patibolo della sua tenda dal sangue dell’ultimo suo esperimento.
«Non lo so.»
L’entusiasmo di Harlequin si spense un poco a quella risposta. «In che senso non lo sai?»
«Si tratta di materiale destinato allo smaltimento. Il mio ultimo esperimento non è andato come previsto.» Gli occhi di Dottore brillarono sotto il cappuccio, e si diressero verso di lui. «Posso dirti quali sono le conseguenze su un corpo umano, però. Nei minimi dettagli.»
Harlequin sbuffò. «Finché non fa scoppiare la testa o le palle non mi interessa.» Ghignò ancora. «Fa questo? Fa scoppiare le palle?»
«No, ma-»
«Allora lo voglio assaggiare. Magari è buona come quella dell’altra volta…»- Language:
