Summary
When Alex landed his first job as a stuntman, his dad had sat him down to pass on some advice. Don’t take on more than you can handle just to impress someone, he’d said, and never hide injuries. Always speak up if you’re concerned about safety on set. Make sure to always get enough sleep. And never, ever, get involved with the actors.
He never said anything about directors, though.
(When Alex agreed to take a job doing stunts for a movie directed by his ex, all he wanted was to make it out in one piece. After a rocky start, they figure out a way to work together again, but that new equilibrium is tested when the film’s lead actor goes missing and Alex finds himself thrown into a world of secrets, blackmail, and people actually trying to kill him. Saving Henry’s movie just might be his most dangerous stunt yet, but can he play the hero, or is he destined to be the fall guy?)

“Let’s put a clock on it, shall we?” The vampire queen sneers at Alex from across the gymnasium, looking remarkably out of place with her high-necked black dress and close-cropped bob, but somehow no less formidable for it. Mary glances up at the scoreboard hanging on the wall behind her, which one of her nameless minions managed to illuminate. “If your sister doesn’t find a way to reverse her spell in the next twenty minutes, Henry here is going to drain you until you are dead,” she says casually, the time appearing on the clock as she gives the order.

“Come on, angel,” he takes a step forward, staring up at Henry with a smirk. He knows that if they had any need for oxygen, Henry’s chest would be heaving. “You know you want to.”
“Wanting it isn’t the question,” Henry says tightly, only the slightest sliver of blue still visible in his eyes. “We can’t.”
Alex knows he has him, knows that it’s only moments until he finally gets what he wants. What he’s always fucking wanted. He just needs to push.
“Oh but we can,” Alex’s tongue darts out to wet his lips and he watches in glee as Henry’s eyes drop to capture the motion. “You want me. Come get me.”
Alex has hated Henry for a lifetime - but he's wanted to fuck him for twice as long.

Summary
Wanting Alex’s blood is nothing new. Wanting Alex as a whole is nothing new. But Henry knows that it’s a dead end—one that will most likely lead to his own demise if he allows himself to drift too far into his orbit. No matter how attracted Henry is to him, how much he’s imagined the sweetness of his blood on his tongue, how much he’s envisioned the contrast of Alex’s skin against his bedsheets, it doesn’t change the facts. It doesn’t change who they are.
Henry, born into a role he never asked for, and Alex, born into a bloodline bred to exterminate him.
