These things, or similar in their nature, were said daily by his fiancée, Stella. The one woman he hated in all of Hell.
Stella was beautiful, the young prince could at least give her this compliment. But Satan, was she tiresome. All she cared about was appearances and being the center of attention. She cared not for reading or the delicate nature of plants, things Stolas adored and could get lost in for hours. His fiancée was nothing he wanted, and he knew she felt the same way about him(She stated it at least once daily). He felt pity for her though, they both were stuck in this hierarchy of lies and hatred. Stolas knew, however, that he could not forgive himself if he married the woman. Was it that he cared for her? Sure, maybe deep, very deep, down he did.
The prince's main reason was that he did not love her.

"People are complicated. They have complex emotions that can be hard to read.
But you know what's not complicated? Plants. They are easy.
Well, at least to Stolas. To him, they are so easy to understand and help. He knows when they need water and when they need more nutrients. He just knows these things. What makes it better, is he gets to spread his knowledge."

The demon chuckled. “Cute fucker,” it said under its breath. “You're already starting to win me over, and I don't even know your name.”
“I’m St—” he started, but cut himself off. He remembered tales, warnings, of what could happen if you gave an evil or mischievous spirit your name. “Uh… I'm sorry, but… I don't… know if I should tell you that.”
The demon smiled widely, with all of its pointy teeth, before hopping down from the merry-go-round, the dry grass crunching under its boots. It offered out a large, claw-tipped hand. “The name's Blitz,” it said.

When the constant fighting between him and his wife keeps getting worse, Stolas seeks respite within the peaceful woods behind his house. After he suddenly starts finding himself stumbling into a decaying, otherworldly realm, he can't decide if the mysterious demon residing there is friendly or hiding something more sinister, or if any of it is real at all. Would he be willing to make a deal with the devil to find out?
