A series of interconnected one shots about sickness, healing, and the people who were there for Sasuke when he needed them most.

Kakashi was tired.
A couple times he still second guessed himself. Wondered if it would be better to fail the team and let whatever happens to them happen.
But every time he saw the photo of his old team, he remembered why he couldn’t.
He couldn’t let that happen to them. This system had already screwed them over. The people who were supposed to care for them had done the opposite.
Kakashi wasn’t going to be another adult who let these kids down.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen. And maybe I’ll only make things worse…” Kakashi murmured softly to the framed photo at his bedside. “…But I have to try.”
He had to. Or these pups were as good as dead.
OR: Kakashi realizes how bullshit it is that Team Seven was even a team in the first place, and does things differently. Screw Hiruzen for putting him in this position.

Summary
Naruto is off with the Toad Sannin, no doubt getting better without having to pulverize his bones because he’s jinchuuriki and he’s Naruto. Sasuke is being trained by Orochimaru, probably taking out all his angst on the creepy snake guy. Sakura begged Tsunade to take her, and despite her immediate regret and wounds to show for it, is still able to keep up. The three sannin are split between them, each training them for whatever goals they have.
Of the original Team Seven, she and Kakashi are the only ones left in Konoha, and he’s already kind of the exception because he never takes breaks between missions.
She hasn’t spoken to him in two months.
She should probably get on that. And try to find a reason to keep living. Who knows, maybe they’ll coincide.
(how sakura spends her three years with team 7 disbanded, while kakashi tries to make up for his shortcomings in his own strange way.)

Summary
When a training exercise accidentally lands the freshly-minted Team Seven in the Land of Rain, the stakes of their little practice mission abruptly get a lot higher. Amegakure, paranoid as it is, isn’t all that thrilled to have S-rank foreign shinobi Kakashi of the Sharingan wandering into the country unannounced, after all.
Consequently, Kakashi is taken captive and marched off to Amegakure for interrogation and probably execution. Sakura, mistaken for a fugitive criminal, is taken captive along with him. Sasuke and Naruto are left behind, left to fend for themselves and forced to learn how to work together in order to rescue their teammates.
As they’re transported towards an unpleasant fate in Amegakure, Sakura and Kakashi will have to adapt quickly if they want any chance of escaping. Sakura will have to find her confidence as a shinobi, while she’s surrounded by people who don’t even believe she is one. And Kakashi will have to teach her how to do that, despite how unused he is to his role as a teacher.
The odds are against them in many ways. In spite of that, each member of Team Seven will fight tooth and nail to defend their brand-new teammates’ safety.

Summary
After Sasuke leaves with Orochimaru and Naruto leaves with Jiraiya, Sakura works day and night on her own training. It will be her responsibility to heal her teammates if they get hurt, after all. If she’s not good enough to save them, their blood will be on her hands.
For similar reasons, Kakashi works hard on getting stronger as well. It’ll be his responsibility to keep his students out of trouble, after all, and who knows how much more reckless they’ll be when they get back? If he’s not good enough to protect them, their blood will be on his hands.
When Kakashi’s efforts land him in the hospital and he comes face to face with an over-worked and sleep-deprived Sakura, they both individually decide to try and help each other out. Because protecting their teammates includes keeping them from working themselves to death.
And perhaps, along the way, they’ll finally learn that they need to take care of themselves in order to take care of their teammates.
