When Tim read Ella Enchanted for the first time, a lot of things had made sense. Not the whole fairy gift thing, or ogres or dead mothers or evil stepmother, but the curse of obedience fell into place quite well. Tim did not mean that figuratively.
Tim has a curse. It's always been like that, since he was a small child. Things change, and fast, when Jason finds out, promising to help. Tim doesn't know what to think. And sometimes, Jason enjoys his obedience a bit too much.

Tim Drake was a relatively normal kid.
Except for, maybe, the itch.
He first felt it seeing Dick Grayson fly the skies. It was the itch to see, to feel, to know. He couldn't stop himself from following Robin at night. He was light, he was hope. And then Dick Grayson left. And then he appeared.
Suddenly, it wasn't enough to simply see and feel and know, no, he needed to be seen and be felt and be known. Following Robin and Batman wasn’t enough anymore, but it was all he could do. Except… Well, he realised, I could follow Jason.

Against all odds, Jason Todd actually was a normal kid.
And then he wasn’t a normal boy anymore, he was just dead.
Until Talia brought him back to life and told him about the new Robin, Timothy Drake, and showed him a picture.
His thoughts on the subject had quickly changed after Talia had shown him that first photo. He was still right, Tim had taken what was Jason’s, yes, but, he also thought, if you cut out a few words, you got a much prettier picture: Tim was Jason’s.
Or… The development of Tim and Jason’s mutual obsession as seen in snapshots of their lives culminating in their first actual meeting.

Tim scoffs, but, you know what? Fair. The second Robin may not have been as agile and quippy as the first, but he did make up for it with sass and a mean left hook. Really, it shouldn’t have been a surprise that he just got worse with death and rebirth. He can give him that.
He gestures for Jason to continue.
“Secondly, rude. I didn’t kill that guy you needed last week. Remember that? Very mindful, very merciful, very demure.”

Someone laughed on the second floor — a bright, glittering sound, the kind of laugh that knew it was being heard.

Jason nearly chokes on his laughter. “Bull,” he says, “everyone knows that demons don’t have souls.”

The hard contours had no give whatsoever, forcing Jason’s mouth wide. He swallowed the spit pooling in his mouth without thinking, and the taste of metal as his tongue went up against the gun sent another pang of heat through his gut.
