At first glance, you could say that this story is a modern Cinderella.
He lives in a world of Harvard graduates (and one non-graduate), expensive suits, high-profile legal affairs, and luxurious Manhattan apartments and offices. She lives in a Brooklyn one-bedroom apartment, without family, has a not-so-good past and needs two jobs to manage the rent in that mini-apartment. Yet their worlds collide.

It was amazing, really, that Bradley had once known how to read Jake Seresin and his daemon better than almost anyone. Now, Hangman seemed as inscrutable and remote as a distant star — coldly beautiful, forever out of reach.
