After three minutes, his attendant returned, coiling a paper packet between his fingers back and forth. When he came into view again, he waved it at Tartah, then said, “Want help installing them too? It won’t take long.”
“Actually..." Tartah slid the case over another inch or two, keeping his distance from it. “Can I sell this here?”
The man paused, the packet in his hands stilling between two fingers. He raised an eyebrow. “What? Are you stupid?”

But Tartah had stayed, stubbornly, no matter how Custas tried to scare him off. He had fretted over his condition and, when Custas kept snapping at him, had lifted his own left arm to show off the seal emblazoned on it.
"See?" He had said, with a tired whisper of a smile. "I'll never be able to lie to you again. That means we can be friends again, right?"
Custas hadn't answered, just stared blankly.
After the events of Silver Eve, Custas and Tartah lean away from everything else and lean into each other.
