Summary
This fic has a back and forth two storyline setup. In the past storyline Yelena is a very persistent friend to a reluctant Bob; he ends up being part of the family and if not truly saved from his horrible home situation at least in a better position overall for having been loved by Yelena and Alexei.
The other timeline follows Bob and John in the time since they moved into the tower and explores their relationship as it starts.
Updates are planned at least every Sunday, but may be more frequent.
The story will end on a positive note but the road will be rough. Mind the tags, which will be updated as the story progresses.

Summary
He figures Ilya would be pretty surprised if he showed up to his house out of the blue. Surprised enough to be put off, probably. Shane is way too bad of a liar to think of any plausible excuse. If this is really happening, if Shane is actually by some miracle getting another shot at this, then he’s going to have to play this smart. His impatience to see Ilya again will have to be tempered. He’s not sure how time travel works, but he has the sneaking suspicion that one wrong move could unravel everything.
Ilya is alive.
Just the thought of it is enough to make Shane crack his first smile in a year.
