Summary
Kakashi refuses to meet his eyes. The confession sits heavy on his tongue, and he has to force himself to get it out.
“I’m scared that I will loose you,” he says instead of a thousand other things that cause his very soul to ache.
Obito smiles brightly, his head tilted.
“I know what I’m doing,” he says. Then, like an afterthought, he adds dismissively: “you won’t lose me.”
I did, once, Kakashi doesn’t say. The wound left after his death is still bleeding — and it was barely scarred over in the first place. When will his heart stop being ripped apart?
“It’s just— I don’t want to fail.”
“Come on, Bakashi, you never do.”
If only he knew — that Kakashi couldn’t honour any of his last wishes. Not to protect Rin; not to become the sixth Hokage.
Or; after the fourth shinobi war ends, Kakashi is dying. His students come up with a brilliant solution. And now he’s four and has to relive puberty again.
Or or; Kakashi wakes up in the past, a year before his father commits suicide. He makes a few changes.

Summary
A stress-strain curve is a graphical representation of how a material deforms when subjected to an applied mechanical load. Or a mathematical way to cut your life into pieces to analyse how you ruined it all on your own.
Kakashi relied on Obito's chaos to drag him out of the rigid rules of the shinobi world. And Obito relied on Kakashi’s steadiness to keep himself from floating away. Without Obito he had no one to pull him out of his head. He has Rin, yes, but Rin is a different person entirely. Kushina suspects what Kakashi felt for Obito was something that he could never feel for Rin.

Summary
Rin is staring at both of them in disbelief.
“It’s been one day and you’ve already corrupted him.”
Obito offers her a sheepish smile; judging by her state, she’s been training with Minato while waiting for them to arrive.
“There was this old lady—“
Kakashi nods, readjusting his mask. His face is covered in scratches.
“And then we had to help a feral cat.”
“The cat wasn’t feral, you barked at it.”
“Maybe it deserved to be barked at, have you considered that?”
Obito looks at him, and considers his options.
Maybe he made a mistake by being nice to him and calling his dad a hero. The bratty jerk was easier to deal with than a clingy six-year-old.
This is the same person who will one day become one of the most feared shinobi.
The knowledge of the future feels like a curse once more.
Or, after dying in the Fourth War, Obito wakes up in the past. Problems transpire.

Summary
Minato's felt adrift since Obito died. When his living students leave to chase a dream, Minato feels as if he's being ripped apart at the seams. Luckily, Kakashi and Rin always planned to come back, and this time it won't be without their third.

Summary
A finger drags along his cheek, just below the lid of his working eye. “How about this, then. Either you get that under control, or I’ll take out your other eye.”
Abject terror fills him, more intense than he has felt before, a gut-turning revulsion at the very idea that shakes him to his core. He can’t move, though, can’t even open his mouth to scream.
“I’d certainly put it to more use, and it’s not as if there aren’t others who could fulfill your role. I’ve already been far too generous with you.” The finger continues to drag slowly across his skin, calloused and grimy, nail torn ragged and somehow colder than even the rock beneath him. Slowly, ever so slowly, it moves closer and closer to his eye, and he can do nothing but choke out terrified breaths. The tip of it reaches his lash line, and his mind can no longer cope. The world goes black.
