Nevaeh falters, for a moment, but holds eye contact. If Astarion hadn’t been so close, he might not have noticed the shift. Something behind his eyes shutter closed, and he moves away, ever so slightly.
“You don’t have to do that, you know.” His voice is soft, as if he’s scared of hurting Astarion, or something.
It’s utterly bizarre.

The man tilted his head, smiling almost indulgently at him. Shane waited patiently, then smiled awkwardly when there was no name forthcoming. “You don’t know?” the man said.
“Your name? No, I don’t– sorry, have we met before?” Shane asked, suddenly embarrassed. He didn't remember seeing this man in the shop before. Oh god, had they gone on a date and he forgot? It had been awhile since he went out with anyone, so it must have been quite a long time ago if that was the case. But Shane was sure he would remember someone who looked and sounded like that.
The man’s smile widened. “I must just have one of those faces,” he said. “My name is Ilya.”
