Summary
If the spirit was looking to maximize horror and fear, terrorizing Scott while inhabiting the body of his best friend was certainly an effective method of doing it.
He supposed he shouldn’t be surprised. The creature had existed for centuries—perhaps even a millenia. It was only logical that, in all that time, it had learned to hone its craft.
Fortunately for them, the Nogitsune wasn’t the only one who’d honed his craft.

Scott doesn’t hesitate this time. He pulls him into his arms, and Stiles is far too exhausted to fight him. “It’s okay,” Scott says, rubbing circles on his back as Stiles lays his head on his shoulder. His voice is thick, like he’s on the edge of crying. “We're gonna figure this out, okay? Everything’s gonna be all right.”
Stiles doesn’t need to hear his heartbeat to know it’s a lie.
