Eddie blows out a harsh breath and leans forward in his chair, darts his hand out and snatches up Buck’s collar by the d-ring. He tugs the collar forward, getting his fingers underneath the material to curl around it and haul Buck forward.
Buck chokes on a growled yelp, their faces very, very close together, close enough that Eddie can see the different striations of the blue in Buck’s eyes. “Quit it,” Eddie says, keeping a firm grip of Buck’s collar, keeping him underneath Eddie’s sharp stare. “No growling at me, you know better than that.” Buck does know better, and they both know it—he also knows that Eddie isn’t leaving. Sometimes, his insecurities and traumas cannot accept that fact, but Eddie is happy to remind him.

“Apparently that’s a family trait. I’ve seen your dad house a sweet potato the size of his skull at a steakhouse,” Buck says.
“Buy him one tonight and stick the ring in it,” Chris suggests slyly, taking a big squishy peanut-buttery bite of his English muffin immediately after as Buck sputters in response.
Ruby seizes the opportunity to snatch the food packet from him completely, retreating toward the back of the high chair and clutching it in both fists while giving him the baleful Diaz glare like she’s just daring him to take it back. She has two teeth and she will use them. Buck grins at her. “It’s all yours, baby Squash. You can eat it,” he promises then he shoots a glare at Chris.
“What? He’s gonna say yes,” Chris says, rolling his eyes. “He’s obsessed with you. We talked about it before we moved in here.”
“You two talked about him marrying me?” Buck says slowly.
“Duh. Like I said. He’s obsessed with you. So lock it down. I only want to move again when we have to because you guys keep having more babies,” Chris says.

Summary
Then, Eddie straightens up and turns around, and Buck revises his assessment, because the front is cropped too. Evenly, which means a person did this on purpose.
The express purpose being to ruin Buck’s day and possibly his life.
The shirt stops right under his ribs. His stomach is just — out, the whole deliciously muscular span of it.
“Hey,” Eddie says, a crooked, boyish grin splitting across his face, as if he isn’t standing in his own driveway basically naked. “Wasn’t expecting you.”
“I-I, uh, texted. You weren’t answering.”
“Phone’s inside.” Eddie tips his head at the engine. “She’s leaking somewhere. Been out here since this morning trying to find it.” He swipes the back of his wrist across his forehead, and the gesture pulls the hem up another half inch.
Which is how he ends up looking at the sweatpants again. And the sweatpants, it turns out, are keeping no secrets. There is nothing on under there.
So now he’s standing on Eddie’s front lawn, stone-cold sober, at four in the afternoon, looking at the unmistakable outline of his best friend going commando.
Neat.
Or: Eddie wears a crop top. Buck sucks his dick about it.

Buck’s brain must short circuit a little bit then. There’s no other explanation. It’s a moment of insanity. It’s Eddie, saying the exact words Buck needs to hear at exactly the right time. Like he always does. It’s a bolt of lightning to the chest, a shock to the system.
He surges forward and kisses Eddie. Before he can think better of it, not thinking at all. He doesn’t have the words to express everything he’s feeling at that moment, it’s all he can do.
OR: Buck worries about Theo. Eddie helps.
