Summary
Jack Abbot is a veteran Pittsburgh police officer who lives with his partner, Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, a former public heath educator who runs a Jewish deli in the city's Squirrel Hill neighborhood. In the wake of a shooting that nearly killed a fellow officer, Jack struggles with guilt and a growing doubt about his own physical abilities, leading him to question whether there's still a place for him in the Bureau of Police.

Baran wasn’t ready for this thing between her and Jack to be more than a gratifying friends with benefits arrangement. Robby’s shadow felt ever-present, and his sabbatical journey occupied a tremendous amount of Jack's mental real estate, far more so than she would have expected when she let herself fall into whatever this was between her and Jack. The only place that Robby’s ghostly presence didn’t lurk between them was when they were in bed. Except here they were, in bed, talking about him.

"L'dor V'dor" is a character study that follows Dr. Robby's evolution from a precocious five-year-old to emergency room physician.

The sight there makes him stop dead in his tracks. Jack is naked in bed, flushed pink and coated in sweat, squirming on rumpled sheets that are soaked with slick. He’s surrounded by toys of different sizes, some vibrating, some not, most of them glistening with slick just like his hands.
Clearly, none of those toys are enough, but he’s trying hopelessly to fuck himself even now, a knotted dildo halfheartedly shoved in and out of himself with the motions of his soaking left hand, never quite up to the knot.

Jack shudders. “Fuck, alright.” He pulls Robby up by the hand. “Let’s go get horizontal.”
They get as far as the wall opposite the couch before Jack finds himself spun around, hoisted up, and pulled into Robby’s arms.
“Don’t wanna wait,” Robby rumbles, still sucking a mark high up. “Right here. Not waiting.”
