Even as she's burying her nose in his neck, and he's watching her every movement, waiting. He's as overwhelmingly ridgid as he can be without getting noticed.
Everytime he wishes that it sticks forever,
but it never does.
But he's steadfast on his feet, ready for the moment where something twists even a bit wrong and it all washes down the drain in one big flood, and he changes, and adjusts.
If there's one good thing that he learns from Mitsuki's mood swings, it's adapting.*

Neil Josten knows he's safe. He hasn't had to run since he enlisted the help of his Uncle Stuart to get rid of his father. Unfortunately, old habits die hard. Neil created a new, virtual identity for himself under the alias GhostCore. With a loud mouth and reputation for playing solo, it was only a matter of time before the world came together to prove him wrong.
It was an accident when his classmates found out he played. Visiting their guild was meant to be a one time thing. Sticking around and finding his place in the world was not part of the deal.

Neil sighed and closed his eyes, letting his head fall farther back on Andrew’s shoulder. He was exhausted and every part of his body burned. The hoodie had helped in that it kept anything else from touching his overly sensitive skin but it didn’t do much else. Distractions like the cats and tea and movie were nothing more than that: distractions. Andrew was always the closest he could get to comfort. The insistence that neither he nor Andrew were answers to each other’s problems continued to ring true, though that didn’t mean they didn’t provide more relief from those problems than anything else.
