The concept of hope was interesting from a financial standpoint. To manufacture dreams and euphoria was to grasp power in a way most could not fathom. To rule with fear and despair? That was mere child’s play. Perhaps though, it’s better to say that, only through the negative emotions and experiences could unfettered and unadulterated joy be realized.
For what was light without the dark, good without evil, and yin without yang? In the requiem of this cyclic world, around and around in circles they went with this impossible puzzle. Oh, to be a fool, to be a Fatuus.
In the greatest of despair, it is hope that drives you forward. In the greatest of hope, it is despair that keeps you at a standstill.
Then, it is fear that drives the most basics of instinctive human reactions. And to rule over fear was to conquer demons. To hold the entire world in the palm of your own hands.

He knew they all called him a monster behind his back. He would obviously prefer respect for all his hard work, but being someone people feared was at least better than being pushed around by them.
- This was a strain to see, yes. I'm not really used to participating in groundwork. However, considering his betrayal, that was nothing but a reasonable reaction.
He might have been the first person to call any of Dottore’s actions reasonable.Dove is very much alive and you can eat safely – despite the tags, this is mostly a happy fic. I wanted to show how I image their dynamic throughout many years of their relationship. This is very slow burn, because they’re both emotionally stunned. I made some changes in the timeline.

Summary
Dottore is not dead. He took two months to reassemble his soul—all of it, every deleted segment, every fragment, the original and everything after—into one complete person. He has been preparing for this for thirty years.
Pantalone finds this out when a voice speaks from the dark of his empty lab.
What follows: one surgical procedure, the end of a political engagement, a royal audience that goes better than expected, Childe being left unsupervised with three children for two months, and a total of four kids who completely wreck the genetic ledger. While the first three stubbornly turn out to be absolute carbon copies of Dottore, the fourth and final arrival finally breaks the streak, looking entirely like Pantalone.
Pantalone is still thoroughly annoyed that it took four separate attempts just to get a return on his investment.

A tug on a dormant part of Akira’s heart led him to say, “France. We can visit a few cities. Have the best seafood you can imagine in Marseille, visit the Alps by Lyon, and maybe end in Paris.”
“I didn’t realize you were a French connoisseur.” Goro pulled Akira closer and whispered, “All of that sounds awfully romantic.”
“Is that a bad thing?” Pushing Goro flat on his back, Akira crawled over him. He bracketed his arms on either side of Goro’s head and leaned down to kiss him softly. “We’ll get you moved into your new apartment first,” he said against Goro’s lips. “Then we’ll make our escape.”

Goro whirls around just as the heel of the shadow’s scythe collides with Akira’s head. Akira staggers backward. The blade strikes again, tearing through Akira’s arm. Blood sprays onto the ground as Akira collapses to one knee.
Time freezes. Akira glares up at the Macabre poised to reap with a face draining of color. Blood streams down from Akira’s hairline, glazing his white mask crimson. His arm is a landscape; blood runs from rounded peaks of muscle, like a river flowing downhill from the mountains, pouring into his curled palm, and trickling into the ocean of mist he kneels in.
Goro sees red. He has no options left.
