Ilya is the future of the KHL. Shane’s stats are already being compared to this years class of NHL rookies, and for the next four weeks they would train in the same place.
The first time Shane dialed out for his mom Ilya vaulted himself across the room, tackling Shane to his bed so he could wrestle free the phone and say, “Hello, Mrs. Yuna Hollander. Is me Ilya. I’m here taking care of your son. He is good. Shane, tell her how good we are.”
Edit: I may have gotten carried away and this now extends past camp into their (separate) rookie seasons + the Olympics.

Summary
Scent patches were mandatory for anyone participating in World Junior's, but a lot of the Russian guys Shane saw in the hotel or around the rink had them loosely attached to their necks or not quite centered over their scent gland. Shane had been on his way to his parents' car when the wind shifted, and he smelled that Rozanov, leaning against the wall and not-at-all-surreptitiously fishing a carton of cigarettes out of his pocket, must have been one of them.

Shane Hollander is a UFA on July 1, 2019 at 12pm Eastern. An Unrestricted Free Agent, or UFA for short, is a player of a certain tenure whose contract has ended and can sign with any team of their choosing. If it were anyone else, a player walking to his UFA day would strike fear into the fans and managers hearts. They could lose a player for nothing.
On the morning of July 1, 2019, with Shane Hollander set to test free agency, the Montreal Metros and their fanbase aren't worried. It's well documented that Shane Hollander has always held out for the best deal, and being a free agent is his leverage. Everyone knows that he’ll sign another deal with the Metros.
But maybe everyone is wrong.
(Alternatively: the one where Shane Hollander finds out ahead of schedule that Ilya Rozanov is lonely.)

Summary
After Shane comes out, the Metros become convinced he might be attracted to them.
Shane corrects this assumption with devastating precision, accidentally describes Ilya Rozanov in the process, and somehow turns the entire locker room into a deranged pageant of heterosexual insecurity.
