    On a case that takes the team back to New Orleans, Emily is uncomfortable to find that she and the team have to collaborate once again with Will LaMontagne, her wife's ex. During the investigation, Emily and Will go canvasing together, and Emily is uncomfortable with the awkward pairing. However, things quickly go far beyond "awkward" when Emily finds herself alone with the man. An unexpectedly sinister turn of events leaves Emily, JJ, and the team reckoning with the aftermath of Emily's harrowing experience. This story explores a variety of coping mechanisms as well as internal and interpersonal struggles in the wake of trauma.

    Takes place in the universe of "JJ & Emily" by CallitWhatYouWantTo -- an excellent reimagining of the whole series if Jemily had been greenlit. (Not thematically violent like this work.) Please go read that if you haven't already. But if you don't want to just yet: this takes place in a world where Emily and JJ are married. So I think season 7ish but I wrote this a year ago and now I can't actually remember.
