A small burst of satisfaction blooms in Hongjoong’s chest as he looks down at his scribbled notes of arrows, x’s, and names — the same bubbling, pleased feeling he always gets when he finally solves a puzzle or wins a prize — but it immediately bursts as the realization hits him that this is the shittiest prize ever.

Jayce returns from the alternate timeline, feral and broken, with a mission to stop Viktor, but that plan derails as his instincts overwhelm his fractured mind.
Without hesitation, Viktor cares for Jayce, who has returned to him after months of being missing, a shadow of who he once was.
An Alpha was there waiting outside. Viktor, something distant stirred. It was Viktor waiting outside of the odd building.
Jayce freezes. His entire body coils. His Omegan instincts flare—predator, enemy, threat. But the girl doesn’t react. Instead, she moves between them, also taking the Alpha’s hand in hers, and lets out a soft, familiar sound: a chuff.
Jayce’s muscles twitch. That sound means safe. He knows it.
It halts him in his tracks, confusion swelling. Viktor was the bad guy—he was why Jayce was here, Jayce was here to stop Viktor as the mage had asked. He couldn’t be…safe.
Viktor steps forward, slow and careful, like approaching a wounded animal.
“Jayce,” he says, voice low and even. A small smile curls his lips. “You’re here.”
