“How can you do all these spells?” It was Sirena, an air of astonishment laced her voice.
“I get it from my mother.” Mimmi responded proudly.
“Your mother?”
“Mimmi’s mother is the most powerful mermaid that’s ever lived.” Ondina responded.
Sirena’s astonished voice made its way back up the corridor again.

D3rlord3’s grip loosened when Avery laughed. His composure relaxed.
“That you did” D3rlord3 answered softly.
There he was. His king.
"You found me" Derek whispered.
"That I did"
Or: An AU where Derek found Avery sooner, at the church, and saved him from the drowning. How will this turn of event alter the ending? Is this a good sign or just pieces fall into place, set up by higher being?

Derek's hair is a disaster. He has known this for a while and has been filing it under things to address later because there have been other things, the smoothies, the plants, the eleven days and the long after of them. There have been other things.
He looks at it on a Thursday morning and thinks: I'll just buzz it. Clean start. Efficient. He tells Avery this.
Avery says: sit down.
Forty-five minutes later Derek is on a kitchen chair with detangling spray in his hair and Avery's hands working through it section by section, from the ends up, slowly and correctly. Every time the comb catches something, every time, without exception, for forty-five minutes, Avery says sorry. Even when Derek says it doesn't hurt. Even when Derek says Avery, you don't have to apologize. Even when Derek says he genuinely cannot feel it.
Sorry. Sorry. Is that okay. Sorry.
Somewhere in the middle of it Derek realizes he has, at some point he cannot identify, stopped bracing. He doesn't know when it happened. He realizes it only by its absence.
He has to close his eyes.

That is a rule of the universe that Derek discovered after dying. And you would think, that after the King was gone and Derek inherited His power, that ensuring Avery's well-being would be easy. Unfortunately, danger continues to creep after Derek's friend, threatening a life he sacrificed everything to protect. A danger that somehow escapes his infinite knowledge.

At the crossroads, Avery turns left.
The golden doors loom over his character, tall and identical, their surfaces catching the light in a way that feels just a little too deliberate. Even from behind the screen, a chill prickles along Avery’s arms.
Still, he swallows it down. Keeps going. It’s fine. It’s just a game.
He approaches the doors, takes one final breath, and then—
“A block of gold?”
Well, what had he expected, anyway?
Something grander?
Something scarier?
Something less boring?
“Well… that’s that, I guess.” Avery mutters, wrist twitching as he moves to turn his character around and head back, when—for better or worse—something interesting does happen.
His head suddenly feels… heavy. Too heavy. His vision starts to blur, the screen warps.
The room tilts—
And the last thing he registers is the dull thud of his head hitting the keyboard.
