    Summary

Paylor comes on at the end, promising a new beginning for Panem, an era of peace and justice. Annie's asleep on Johanna's shoulder, and he knows he needs to wake her, but instead he pours himself the end of the second bottle of wine and turns sideways on the couch, watching Johanna watching the mindless Capitol program that followed the memorial broadcast, his wife asleep against her. "Remember Brutus' show?" he asks.

Johanna attempts a smile, probably more from nostalgia than any real affection for the District 2 Victor. "We used to watch it in Remake."

It's nice, in a way, to remember things like this - things that were normal for them, before the war. Completely strange things that they'd never experience again. It is also torture.

Annie, Finnick, and Johanna go back to District 4 after the war. Fic explores them trying to navigate their messy relationship, build a life in the rubble of Panem after the war, and deal with the toll their experiences in the war took on each of them.

    Summary

"Don't let them take away what makes you the most human of all; the ability to love, to create meaning, to make memories."

Finnick Odair has to face to a wave of horrors that he can't even conceive of when he is reaped as a fourteen year old boy. From that day on he starts unspooling a web of secrets that keeps Panem afloat. He learns about the real tales of district Four, the burden of wearing a mask, the cost of breaking the balance of mother earth, what it means to lose your personhood, that those who watch him drown are just as bad as those who drown him, but most important of all he learns that a subtle glow is enough to light the path to revolution.

or Finnick's life from the 65th Reaping to the end of Mockingjay.

    Summary

“Come on, Finnick. You’re seventeen years old for crying out loud. You should be here. Not living with those victors who aren’t even part of this community. You belong here, not in some Capitol-funded house with strangers.”

    “I’m a victor too. I’ve killed people —“

“When you were fourteen years old! It’s different.”

I set the salt shaker down and glare at him.

“People are saying awful things. They’re saying you’re more Capitol than District now. That you’ve slept with who knows how many—“

He cuts himself off, too ashamed to finish the sentence. His next words come in a whisper.

“But I always tell them I know you. I know my son. You know what I see when I look at you? I see your mother. Your eyes...”

“I hate my eyes,” I mutter it almost to myself and am surprised to realize I’ve spoken out loud. “That’s what they all say. That they love my eyes. My hair. My skin.”

“Finnick. What you’re doing. No one’s forcing you, right? You’re willing—“

“I like the Capitol, dad,” I say quickly. “It doesn’t smell like fish, the buildings aren’t falling apart, there’s always enough to eat. Your friends don’t show up dead on the beach.”

Please picture me in the trees, I hit my peak at seven.
    (c) Taylor Swift, seven

Johanna Mason wins the Seventy-first Hunger Games as the girl crying crocodile tears. She is beautiful, unexpected, and vicious — a Capitol darling. When she backs out of President Snow's prostitution deal, her family is murdered to make an example of her. But blood cries out for blood, and she answers in kind.

This is the story of Jo Mason, told in full — from the girl she was to the rebel she became.
