    Summary

After birthing himself from a fresh grave lifetime-decades ago, Jaskier has played the bard across the continent. He is content because he is who he chooses to be: safely forgettable; a weed who makes music.

… Until the witcher, and the child surprise. Until the war. If he runs from his birthright, he risks the lives of everyone whom he ever held dear. If he embraces it – he loses them anyway.

    Summary

There was a minor problem with Ithlinne's Prophecy.

Emhyr var Emreis was convinced it was about him.

    Vilgefortz wanted power.

Several kings, mages, prophets, scholars, and at least one particularly enthusiastic cult were also convinced it was about them.

    None of them were correct.

Geralt of Rivia was trying his best.

Sigismund Dijkstra was trying very hard to locate one missing bard before the Continent collapsed.

    And Jaskier—

Jaskier wanted absolutely nothing to do with any of it, thank you very much.

He wanted songs. Stories and Adventure. A certain white-haired witcher and preferably in that order.

Unfortunately, Destiny had read the prophecy.

And, like everyone else, it enjoyed a good joke.

    Or:

How Jaskier accidentally became immortal, united the races of the Continent, dismantled an empire, fulfilled an ancient prophecy, inherited a kingdom he did not want, and spent most of the process attempting to seduce one (1) white-haired witcher while actively avoiding his own coronation.

    Summary

She’d seen these patterns before. They weren’t just any old lines on his back. They looked like—

“Feathers,” Vokara murmured, noticing the boy watching her warily out of the corner of his eye. The second she said the word, it was like she’d triggered something in the boy, who just barely choked down a terrified yelp and jerked away from her fingers.

Once, only once had she ever seen this intricate design on another humanoid species’ skin. This boy was wary of everyone and everything it seemed, but Vokara needed to clean and patch that wound or he’d get a serious infection. But perhaps there was someone who could help her.

“Master Ti,” she spoke up calmly, turning her gaze back to Shaak. “Would you fetch Knight Kenobi for me please?”

Or, Anakin is never found and freed by Qui-Gon Jinn on Tatooine, having been sold and separated from his mother at a younger age. Years later, a young boy is found during an explosion in the Galactic Senate with unusual markings on his back, of which the Jedi only know one other person with the same markings.

    Summary

Jaskier was supposed to be a distraction.

A loud distraction to give Geralt and the others time to run.

He did not expect to survive it.

He did not expect Nilfgaard to keep him.

    Summary

The Sandpiper network guided countless men, women, and children to safer lands. To many, it was a beacon of hope in dark times. To others, it was an uprising meant to be snuffed out.

No one, however, had any plans in place to save the Sandpiper.

    Not even the Sandpiper himself.
