Summary
The townsfolk of Oakhurst were settling in nicely. The beacon in the town had been consecrated without issue, eleven of the thirteen wanderers feeling relief from their weariness as the warm glow washed over them. Despite the monster hoards, and Cyyrus's insistence on the existence of vampires, the people who wandered into this dump seemed to find some peace.
Which all changed when the man came from the river.

It’s finally over. Oakhurst’s curse has come and gone, leaving Abolish still standing in the ashes. The barrier can’t hold him anymore, and he can finally do what he’s been wanting to for weeks now; go home.
If only it were that simple. Oakhurst doesn’t seem to want to let go, and a ghost of his time there- not an actual ghost, thank goodness, that would be a handful- trails on his heels. A very Pyroscythe-shaped ghost.

Summary
The beacons are a problem when there's a relationship blooming between a human and vampire, each having to get rid of each other to exit.
A human who waited 600 years to be reunited with his sire. A vampire who favors his most loyal servant. They aren't leaving without each other.
