Summary
[An AU where (male) V was a little older during the events of '77 (36). Set in 2084, just before V's 42nd birthday. I changed some of the timeline dates, but not events because there were discrepancies between 2077 and the RPG anyway. (Samurai breaking up in 2018 instead of 2008, Kerry born in the 1998 instead of the 1988), just to hit a bit more of a timing sweet spot.]
Seven years after the events of 2077, V finds his way back to night city a living legend. During his recovery he wrote an album under the band name Ronin, and to his surprise after spending most of his life a mercenary for whom music was more a hobby than a dream, it was a massive hit. On a rainy evening in May, 2084 he meets Kerry Eurodyne, one of the only other people who truly understands what it means to be haunted by Johnny Silverhand to the same extent he once was.
While helping Kerry get control of his music back from his manager, L.B. Kovachek, V finds that the real costs of fame, power, and wealth are far greater than he could've ever predicted. Falling in love might not be enough to put the past behind them just yet.

Lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi transferred to Precinct 41 eight weeks ago, at Harry’s request, and has been quietly, devastatingly in love with his new partner since approximately 0309 on the night after the case in Martinaise.
Lieutenant-Double-Yefreitor Harrier Du Bois is sober(-ish), trying very hard, and has not, on the evidence, noticed.
The parliament in his head has noticed. The parliament is going to lose its mind about it for as long as it takes.
Two ruined middle-aged men quietly building something safe in the rubble of post-canon Revachol.
POV alternates between Harry’s skill-crowded chaos and Kim’s clinical restraint.(A/N: Started as a few lighthearted smut drabbles, but Conceptualization and Inland-Empire ran away with the budget. It is now an accidental slow-burn longfic. Logic failed the check to keep it brief. Gets filthier as it goes.)
